Sachen at 7,200 feet is a small clearing where a single log hut and a shelter on the trail exist. The log hut a few meters below the trail. The hut has room enough for about 6-7 and a small area to cook. For a larger team, look for the clearing just above the trail opposite the shelter.Right below the camp site runs river Prek, the sound of which is soothing.

Day 4:

Tsokha to Dzongri ( 3970 Mtr, 11 km, 5-6 hrs )

Goechala trek's 4th day morning is for Dzongri via Phedang. After breakfast a 4.5 km erect trail to Phedang through the Rhododendron forest. The log path gives way to a regular stony trail that climbs quickly to Phedang within 30 min. You can take a small lunch break at Phedang. After having rest and regaining some fresh energy to trek the steep ascending through Rhododendrons forests to the alpine meadows of Dzongri via Deorali. After almost 2 hrs. of trek you will arrive at your destination.

After reaching the campsite change your clothes and try to acclimatize with the altitude. Because Dzongri is in such an altitude where headache, nausea, hypoxia is a pretty normal thing for the first 2-3 hrs of your arrival. So you need to take plenty of water, tea, soup and spend some time outside or walk for 45 min to 1 hr.

Overnight stay in a Tent / Trekkers hut

Day 5 :

After breakfast Dzongri to Thansing ( 3932 Mtr, 8 km, 5 hrs )

Today's destination is mesmerizing Thansing valley which is 8 km from Dzongri. First part of the trek is a gradual walk through meadows and descend to reach Kokchurung. Suddenly rhododendron shrubs give way to the rhododendron forest from Dzongri to Kokchurung trail. Sometime you can take energy from Mt. Pandim from different point. Kokchurung is just beside the Prekchu river with a beautiful Log hut. But there is no such camp pitching area. But trekkers can pitch 4-5 tent after crossing the river.

Take some rest and lunch at Kokchurung, then cross a small wooden bridge on Prekchu and another ascend for 1 hr to reach at Thansing. You can send sometime on the bridge of Prekchu experiencing the cool breeze of the icy blue river. The trail from Kokchurung to Thansing is actually over the rocks and boulders through the moss lined trees. Thansing has a big meadow, actually it is the best campsite of the Goechala trek. Enjoy your fresh meal overthere. The night is going to be cold here.

Overnight stay in a Tent or Trekkers Hut

Day 6:

Thansing to Lamuney ( 4161 Mtr, 4 km, 3 hrs )

Thansing is a perfect place to capture landscape photos with Mt. Pandim, Mt. Tinchen Khang, left wall of Kanchenjunga along with the beautiful Thansing log hut. Today is the easiest day of your Goechala trek, trail to Lamuney along with the Prekchu river on the left side. You can enjoy your walk through the wide meadows with over stretched pastures on both sides.

On your left Prekchu river with Rocky cliff mountain and on your right and front you can enjoy the view of Mt. Tinchen Khang, Jopuno, Mt Kanchenjunga, Mt. Pandim. On the way of Lamuney you will cross Deotagarh, Mt. Tinchen Khang Base camp. After reaching at Lamuney enjoy your hot lunch and you may choose to trek further to Samiti Lake, 2 km and spend an hour there

Day 7:

Lamuney to Goechala Pass (4940 Mtr.) - Thansing (total 16km, 10-12 hours )

Today is the hardest and longest day of your Goechala Trek. You have to walk very early at 2 am from camp to see the beautiful sight of the sunrise on the himalayas. But we have the advantage of leaving some stuff from our rucksack at the Lamuney camp and trek lightly. Goechala first viewpoint or sunrise point is 5 km from Lamuney which takes approx. 3 hr. to reach but it depends on the speed of the trekkers. The trail from Samiti lake is continuous steep to the ridge which should be walked with much caution as the route is narrow and slippery.

But when you will reach at the top & see the morning light on the majestic mountains like Mt. Kanchenjungha, Mt. Talung, Mt. Pandim, Mt. Tinchenkhang, Kabru group of peaks, Goecha peak etc, You will simply spellbound for some moment. Goechala trek has an optional view-point of three places. Goecha La or pass is called 3rd view point. Goechala 2nd viewpoint is actually the place where you can see Goecha La. But now the Sikkim government has not allowed trekkers beyond the 1st view point ( Trekkers need some special permit with technical knowledge ).

So if you get permission beyond the 1st viewpoint or sunrise point you have to walk through the Zemithang Valley which is almost 3 hr. walk to the pass. The last 200 feet is steep & narrow ascent till Goechala final point. You can see beautiful Goecha Pokhri on your left. But you need a lot of energy & courage to go to the last view point. Sometimes we have to cross the last part with ropes.

After a tiring & breathtaking trek when you will reach the summit point of Goechala you will be surprised to see the view of the giant Mt. Kanchenjunga. But after a successful summit you have to descend safely to the camp. It will take almost 3 hours to reach Lamuney. After taking some rest and lunch at Lamuney back to Thansing. Enjoy the BADA KHANA at night for your successful summit to Goechala.

Day 8:

Thansing to Tshoka ( 17km, downhill 6 hrs. trek )

After breakfast say goodbye to the Thansing valley and back to Tshoka via Kokchurung through the dense forest. On the way back you don't need to go to Dzongri. There is a direct jungle route from Kokchurung to Phedang which takes approx. 4 hr. Take some rest at Phedang and descend to Tshoka.

Overnight stay in Tent / Trekkers hut

Day 9:

Tshoka to Yuksom.( 16 km, 6 hrs )

Today is the last day of your Goechala trek. But this day is also quite long, 16 km. After arriving at Yuksom, check in at the Hotel. Spend your leisure time at Yuksom and you can enjoy this evening with Camp fire & great food.
