Mt. UT Kangri (6070 Mtrs) Expedition

Day 1: Arrival in Leh (3,500 meters)

• Rest & Acclimatization

  Upon arrival in Leh, you will be transferred to your hotel or guesthouse. The day is reserved for rest and acclimatization to allow your body to adjust to the altitude. In the evening, take a leisurely walk through Leh’s old town and market for any essential shopping you might need for the expedition.

Day 2: Acclimatization Hike to Shanti Stupa & Leh Palace, Followed by Sightseeing

• Morning Hike and Afternoon Sightseeing

  After breakfast, we’ll start with an acclimatization hike to Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace. These landmarks provide beautiful panoramic views of Leh and the surrounding region. After lunch, we’ll drive out for a sightseeing tour, visiting the Sangam (confluence of the Zanskar and Indus rivers), Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, and Magnetic Hill. We’ll return to Leh in the evening.

Day 3: Acclimatization Hike to a Nearby Hill (4,000 meters) & Final Preparation

• Morning Hike and Evening Expedition Preparation

  Start the day with a moderate 3-hour acclimatization trek to a nearby hill, reaching an altitude of 4,000 meters. After lunch at the hotel, spend the evening on final expedition preparations, including equipment checks and team briefing.

Day 4: Drive from Leh to Rumtse Phu (4,600 meters) via Thiksey Monastery

• Scenic Drive

  After breakfast, depart from Leh and drive to Rumtse Phu, stopping at Thiksey Monastery en route to admire its beautiful architecture and spiritual significance. The drive will take around 3-4 hours. Upon reaching Rumtse Phu, have lunch and a short walk of surroundings. We’ll camp here for the night.

Day 5: Trek from Rumtse Phu to Base Camp (5,200 meters)

• Trek to Base Camp

  Today, we’ll trek for 4-5 hours from Rumtse Phu to the Base Camp of Mt. UT Kangri. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape as you steadily gain altitude. Upon arrival at Base Camp, we’ll set up camp and explore surroundings.

Day 6: Base Camp – Acclimatization & Rest Day

• Rest and Equipment Practice

  Today is a critical rest and acclimatization day at Base Camp. We’ll practice walking with snow boots and introduction to other mountaineering equipment, there after go for a short height-gain walk to prepare your body for the summit attempt. Rest and hydration are crucial at this stage.

Day 7: Summit Day – Base Camp to Mt. UT Kangri Summit (6,070 meters) and Return to Base Camp

• Summit Push

  The day begins with an early start, around midnight, to make the summit push. It will take approximately 10-12 hours, during which we’ll use ropes and other mountaineering gear for safety. After reaching the summit of Mt. UT Kangri at 6,070 meters, we’ll take time to enjoy the breathtaking views before descending back to Base Camp.

Day 8: Trek from Base Camp to Rumtse Phu and Drive Back to Leh

• Descent and Drive

  After breakfast, begin the trek back to Rumtse Phu, which will take around 4 hours. Upon reaching Rumtse, you’ll drive back to Leh, where you can relax in the comfort of your hotel after the successful expedition.

Day 9: Departure from Leh 🛫

• Expedition Ends

  On your final day, you will be transferred to Leh airport for your flight back home. The memories of your adventure and the summit of Mt. UT Kangri will stay with you forever.

• Accommodation: Twin-sharing basis throughout the expedition. This includes 4 nights in a hotel/guesthouse in Leh and 4 nights camping during the expedition.

• Transportation: All transfers and transportation in a comfortable Tempo Traveller or cab.

• Meals: All meals provided from Day 1 (Dinner) to Day 9 (Breakfast), including freshly prepared, nutritious meals (veg and non-veg) during the expedition—breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

• Mountain Guides & Support Staff: Experienced and certified mountain guides along with a skilled support team throughout the expedition.

• First-Aid & Oxygen: First-aid kit with oxygen backup available for the duration of the expedition to ensure safety at all times.

• Permits & Fees: Includes IMF (Indian Mountaineering Foundation) permit, ALTOA (All Ladakh Tour Operators Association) fees, and environmental charges.

• Expedition Equipment: All essential mountaineering equipment such as snow boots, crampons, harness, helmet, carabiners, rope, and ice axe (except for personal clothing).

• Camping Equipment: High-quality camping gear, including dining tents, kitchen tents, sleeping tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mattresses, and toilet tents.

• Luggage Support: Horses/mules to carry personal and central expedition luggage throughout the trek.
