Mt. Kun (7077m) towers above the Suru Valley, dominating the Zanskar Range alongside its twin peak, Mt. Nun. This expedition is a serious test of alpine endurance and technical climbing skills. You’ll encounter everything from glacial icefalls and knife-edged ridgelines to crevassed surfaces and steep snow walls. Ideal for seasoned climbers, this expedition offers a rare opportunity to scale one of Ladakh’s highest summits under the mentorship of experienced guides.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Leh (3,500 m) – Rest & Acclimatization
Arrive at Leh airport and transfer to your hotel/guesthouse. The first day is reserved for complete rest to allow your body to adjust to the altitude of 3,500 meters. In the evening, take a light walk in Leh’s old town and market area.

Day 2: Acclimatization Hike to Shanti Stupa & Leh Palace
Begin your acclimatization process with a short hike to Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace. Enjoy panoramic views of Leh city and the surrounding mountains.

Day 3: Acclimatization Trek to a Nearby Hill (4,000 m)
Today we take a moderate trek (~3 hours) to reach an altitude of around 4,000 meters. This prepares the body for higher altitudes.

Day 4: Drive from Leh to Rumtse Phu (4,600 m) via Thiksey Monastery
A scenic drive of 3-4 hours through Ladakh’s arid landscape takes us to Rumtse Phu. We stop at Thiksey Monastery en route. Short walks and light activity in the evening.

Day 5: Trek from Rumtse Phu to Base Camp (5,200 m)
Trek through the barren, rocky landscape to reach our base camp for Mt. UT Kangri. This also helps our altitude acclimatization.

Day 6: Acclimatization Day at UT Kangri Base Camp
Practice session using mountaineering gear like snow boots, crampons, and ascenders. A short height-gain walk helps push adaptation further.

Day 7: Summit Attempt of Mt. UT Kangri (6,070 m) and Return
Start early around midnight for the summit push. Expect a 10–12 hour round trip. This is your first taste of high-altitude alpine climbing.

Day 8: Descend to Rumtse Phu and Drive Back to Leh
After breakfast, trek back to Rumtse (4 hours), followed by a 3-hour drive back to Leh.

Day 9: Rest Day in Leh
A full rest day to allow your body to recover before the main expedition to Mt. Kun begins. Time for gear checks and re-packing.

Day 10: Drive from Leh to Kargil via Lamayuru Monastery (2,676 m)
Enjoy a 5-6 hour drive via Lamayuru, famous for its moon-like landscape. Explore the ancient Lamayuru Monastery if time permits.

Day 11: Drive to Shafat Valley (3,700 m) – First View of Kun & Nun
Scenic drive through the Suru Valley with views of glaciers and the majestic twin peaks. Camp near the river in the Shafat meadows.

Day 12: Trek from Shafat to Kun Base Camp (4,650 m)
A beautiful yet challenging 6-hour trek through flower-laden meadows and moraine fields. Settle in for the expedition phase.

Day 13: Rest & Gear Sorting at Base Camp
Today we sort climbing gear, organize load ferries, and practice essential climbing skills: roping up, using fixed ropes, and jumaring.

Days 14–23: Climbing Period (With Contingency Days)
Day 14–15: Load ferry and move to Camp 1 (5,340 m). The route involves crossing glacial moraines and small creeks.
Day 16–17: Push to Camp 2 (6,120 m) over 800m of steep snow slopes (30–45°). Use fixed ropes and anchor points.
Day 18: Establish Camp 3 (6,330 m) on the plateau between Mt. Nun and Mt. Kun.
Day 19: Rest Day at Camp 3 – hydrate, eat, and prep for summit.
Day 20: Summit Day – Pre-dawn alpine start (~12–15 hrs) for the final push to 7077 m. Route involves ridge climbs and fixed rope sections. Descend to Camp 3.
Day 21–23: Descend to Base Camp in stages. Spare days buffer for weather or health issues.

Day 24: Trek Back from Base Camp to Shafat Valley
Trek down to Shafat Valley in 4–5 hours. Porters and horses will assist in carrying gear.

Day 25: Drive from Shafat to Leh (7–8 hours)
A long return drive back to Leh. Celebrate your successful expedition with a warm shower and a hearty Ladakhi meal.

Day 26: Departure from Leh
